Lancing graffiti taggers sent to
prison Graffiti taggers from Sussex who caused more than
£30,000 of damage to property have been given prison sentences. Richard
Markwick, 19 and Matthew Fowler, 32, both of Sompting Road, Lancing,
pleaded guilty to 241 graffiti offences between 2005 and 2009. Their
tags were found in Brighton, Hove and on the Lancing-Worthing railway.
Markwick was given 15 months in a young offenders institution and Fowler
was jailed for 18 months for graffiti-related criminal damage. Both men
were given three year ASBOs with conditions stating that they must not
carry any form of paint or permanent marker or glass cutting and etching
equipment. PC Billy Burstow said: "The risks that Fowler and Markwick
took were staggering. "Their graffiti was discovered in places offering
no refuge from approaching trains, and they accessed areas where there
are trip hazards or where they risked getting their feet trapped in
railway points. |

Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Yizhong was speaking
at China's annual legislation session. "We need to preserve our nation's
interest, our people's interest, we cannot be relaxed with any
information that will cause harm to the stability of our society, to our
system, and to the health of our under-age young people," he said
