WRVS Cars and Companions in Adur are based in Lancing. The scheme is for residents of Adur who are unable to access conventional transport due to a disability, frailty or rural isolation. Volunteer drivers using their own cars that are fully licensed, taxed and have current MOT's carry out the journeys. All volunteers are criminal records bureau checked and carry out an annual driving assessment so that they meet an expected standard of driving. Any information about where you are going will be treated as confidential. We are able to take you to the hospital, doctors, and dentist, visiting friends or even to the park or garden centre. Drivers will give you an hour and a half at your destination, and will either accompany you or wait to return you home. We aim to cater for any destination as long as you are a resident of Adur. To be able to use the scheme you must register with us first. This can be done by ringing us on 01903 851558 to request a registration form. Once completed and returned to us you will be able to book journeys. The cost for registration from January 2006 will be £10. This is an annual registration renewable in June. To book your journeys once registered, you can telephone us on 01903 851558 between the hours of 9.30am - 12.30pm Monday to Friday. Ideally, we would like 48 hours notice for journeys, although in an emergency we will try to accommodate you with less. If for any reason the office is unmanned, there will be an answer phone in operation. Please leave a message and we will always get back to you. We are unable to accept any bookings until your registration form and fee have been returned. We are always in need of volunteer drivers and companions. Two hours of your time can make a tremendous difference to someone else's! All expenses paid, generous mileage allowance for drivers. PLEASE CONTACT ALISON OR LYN ON 01903 854640 FOR FURTHER INFORMATION, OR IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING/REGISTERING WITH OUR PROJECT. |
