How many residents are aware that for the last decade and more our local swimming pool at Holmbush has been accommodating a regular private swimming session for those who prefer to bathe unencumbered by elasticated pieces of textile?

Sad ill-health on the part of the well-liked principal organiser, together with falling attendances - in part attributable to a reluctance to publicise the naturist sessions - have resulted in a decision to terminate this facility.

Can I ask how many people in our area were aware of this activity?  How many would have "given it a go" if they had known of it?  Who, if any, might be persuaded to participate if the event was to be resurrected?  Would anybody be shocked to turn up at Wadurs for a swim and find that a particular session was "clothing-optional" and bare bums were on display?  Does anybody know of an affordable venue where a nudist swim might be hosted?

As ever, all comments - favourable or hostile - appreciated.

hi Andy

please append this to my last offering on the topic.

Since I last communicated to this website, NLN has learned that John, the tireless organiser of naturist swims and other events, has succumbed to a long illness borne with fortitude and courage.

All who knew him will miss him greatly - including many who keep their clothes on.

hello, webmaster

Commiserations to "NLN" on the loss of a friend.  While respecting your own right not to incorporate particular comments within your own website, I have to say that I am disappointed that a previous offering has not been utilised; particularly as "NLN" avers that all responses are welcome.

I therefore resubmit said earlier query, with minor amendment.

Please consider for publication.

Is it possible to ask if anybody out there knows what the Pool Attendants/Lifeguards thought about having to supervise a pool full of naked people?  Some of the Attendants are young females and I can't imagine they enjoyed seeing mainly middle-aged male nudists disporting themselves.  "The Raft of the Medusa" springs to mind.

Mind you, I have heard it was considered a terrific joke (by the regular Pool Attendants) on occasions not to warn new staff in advance of the details of the "Private Swim"!

Have to say I am surprised the chap (?) doesn't get more reaction.

"NLN" is right about on thing at least.  It would be a small token of confidence in ourselves as a community if more people felt able to share their opinions.

Thank you to both North Lancing Nudist and Local Resident for your thoughts.

Here are mine for what is worth!

It must have slipped my mind not to have published Local Residents comment sent earlier, in mitigation could I just say that on an average day I receive 100 emails connecting with my business, websites, community and caring activities .... so please forgive my error, that is what is was, not censorship.

Onto the subject matter!

Local residents says "Have to say I am surprised the chap (?) doesn't get more reaction"

This point actually does I think explain the whole matter. I know an awful lot of people in the area and most of them are liberal and tolerant about this type of thing. It is not a problem. Nobody is being hurt. No laws are being broken (correct me please if they are!) Basically whilst it might be important to a few it matters not to most.

As ever, please add your comments and I will try my best to make sure they are posted!
