Headaches - what a pain
Many of us suffer them at some stage in our lives. Thankfully
for the majority they are few and far between and more of an
inconvenience than a major problem.
There are many types of headaches but one of the most common is
tension headaches. These headaches are often bilateral and
preceded by emotional stresses, or prolonged postural strains.
The pain often feels like a tight band around the head, which
worsens as the day proceeds. Chronic tension in the muscles of
the neck, shoulders, jaw and face, along with restrictions in
joint mobility, can be an underlying causer of these headaches.
Simple self massage techniques and stretching of the neck and
shoulders can ease the pain. Try these techniques yourself, but
consult your GP or therapist if you are in any doubt to the
nature of your pain or have underlying medial problems.
