Candlemass Day is on February 2nd, a day which was very important to our ancestors. It falls halfway between the Winter and Spring solstices and was taken in the past as being a foreteller of whether the cold weather of winter was nearly over or the warmth of spring was just around the corner.

The well known rhyme says :

If Candlemas day be sunny and bright,
Winter again will show its might.
If Candlemas day be cloudy and grey,
Winter soon will pass away

So look out of the window today and take note of the weather, it might be telling you more than you think!
