Open Garden Day June
22nd 2008 |
|
There can be no other occupation
like gardening in which, if you were to creep up behind
someone at their work, you would find them smiling.

Planning outdoor events with the
unpredictable UK climate is always a bit risky, but, the
NLCA usually is blessed with good weather on the day and
our Open Garden Day was given a warm, sunny and breezy
one. I dare not think about all the hard work and
preparation that went on in the 10 gardens that we
visited - otherwise it would make me tired! Just over
sixty members came along and enjoyed a marvellous few
hours. So, a huge "thank you" to those who let us into
their gardens and "well done" to the organisers. You
will be pleased to know that having taken away the costs
for the event, the balance of monies taken from
programme sales (just under £19.00) was split with half
given to Faye Ritchie (manager of the St Barnabas House
Hospice charity shop in Lancing) and to Liz and Frank
Spring (towards their donation to Murole school in
Uganda). Below are some photos of the day, just click on
each image to enlarge; if you would like copies or have
photos that you took on the day that you would like to
share on this web page
