Well then here is a fantastic result from my daughter Melanie who lives in Massachusetts, USA. Both dogs are Tervurens.(Belgian Shepherd Dogs). Day one of two dog shows in Fitchburg. After winning her class and going Winners Bitch Tonks beats her brother to go best of Breed, Best of Winners and Best of Breed Puppy. Strider went Winners dog and Best of Opposite. Both picked up another point each towards their championship. Day Two: Strider went Best of Breed and winners dog for another 2 points. We stayed for group but didn’t place but made the cut. He's so young and almost no coat so we did very well considering the competition. |

Well as promised a quick update on Tyto and his friend Caelan’s show career. They started at the same time in December 2006. Caelan was only 8 months old, whereas Tyto was 12 months old, so a late start to his show career. Caelan so far has had to date 28 placings in 16 shows. These include for his first show a 2nd place in AV gundog puppy and a 5th place in Golden Retriever puppy. He gained various other placings until April of this year when he received his first place in any variety puppy, also on that day he came 3rd in three other classes for his breed. He has been awarded more rosettes to date gaining a 2nd in his breed on August 26th. Tyto meanwhile has also had a good start to his show career by having 14 places in 10 shows. These include 3 firsts 2 seconds and then other minor placings of 5th or higher. We don’t always do more than one class at it makes it a long day and we don’t want to tire the dogs, especially if the day is a hot one. Now that the weather is beginning to get cooler we may start to do more classes at a show but we have to decide whether we want to go for that all important win to get us to Crufts or go for extra places. Our next shows are very soon so I will keep you all posted.
The news from over the water is that my eldest daughter is doing very well with her Tervurens (Belgian Shepherd Dogs). The awards are slightly different over there but suffice it to say she has gained very high awards with her dogs. One is already a champion and her name is Ch.Timberwinds Dare to Dream R.N pet name Xia. The other three that she owns are called Serendipity de Mon Plaisir pet name Elphie. She hasn’t started her yet as she is still very young. There are two more called Westcrofts Casino Royale, pet name Strider, he has already taken best of breed and best of winners at a show over there at 7 months, and Westcrofts Little Miss Sunshine pet name Tonks, daughter to Xia. Strider and Tonks will be shown again later in September. So, all in all a good start in all the dogs careers.
So, come on all you dog owners out there let’s hear about your dogs achievements.
