THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK ARCHIVE

An ‘All Faith Room’ has been opened at Sussex Police Headquarters for use by Police officers and staff in Brighton and Hove as well as by visiting Sussex Police Officers

The room is adorned by abstract pieces of art painted by children from various schools in Brighton and Hove. The constabulary has spent £6,000 on the facility. The room will provide prayer books and religious items for Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, Jews, Hindus and Sikhs, the money having been provided by the Home Office.

Inspector Bill Whitehead, who led the project, said: "We hope the All Faith Room will break down barriers and encourage people from all faiths and backgrounds to work together. It will be a room where staff can practise religious observances, to pray or worship and have some quiet contemplation after a hard day’s work. All substantial stations in Sussex will eventually have one."
