Fond memories of long ago. Oh that makes me feel a bit old. Attached are a few old pics of the family in Lancing and the local area. Feel free to use any or all on the site. I'll look out some more as I am sure I have one of the back garden in Tower road in the 1950's The people in North Farm Rd pix are my Grandparents Ada & Walter Packham. Those on the beach are my mum (Ida Packham) and aunt (Phyllis Packham) and their aunt & uncle (Alice & Charlie Payne, from Tower Rd) I think the boy is their son. We can't trace his name - does anyone know the family names - Packham, Pollard (Ada before she married) and Payne? Not sure about the others. Cheers Brenda |

On
reading your articles on times remembered I wondered if you
would like some of my memories of coming to Lancing as a young
girl to visit my Grandmother in the 50's to stay during the
school holidays. I shared the school holidays between her and my
other grandmother that lived in Eastbourne. When I came to stay
in Lancing with my sister we shared a double bed with a feather
mattress in a bedroom that was used to store apples from her
apple trees. I always remember the smell of apples with that
room. The house is in North Farm Road over looking the school.
It had lots of roses in the garden and loads of apple trees. We
also used to bring our guinea pigs on holiday with us. I
remember going shopping in Woolworths that had small baskets
especially for children to use. I also remember going to the
cinema to see Singing in the rain and another film about horses,
can't remember the title but it had a memorable song called 'Marizy
Doats and Dozy Doats' in it. At the end of North Farm Road there
was a cobblers and also a sweet shop. I remember going to Monks
Rec. to take some ones dog for a walk. He was called Jaffa, I
think he was a yellow retriever. Maybe that is where I get some
of my dog connections from. I loved my holidays in Lancing and
that is why when the opportunity arose I moved here .
